Event Details

The purpose of the Overview of Suzuki Books 1-4 course is to study, from a teacher’s perspective, fundamental violin playing techniques, remedial teaching and teaching families to practice, as they apply to beginning students, advanced students and professional players. 

The 2012 course will include:

•Teaching children and parents how to practice.

•Musical expression and imagery.

•The development of efficient and healthy technique designed to give physical freedom and avoid injury.

•Opportunity for teachers to have an individual masterclass lesson. Spots will be filled on a first come

first served basis depending on availability.

•Observation of student lessons.

•Left and right brain training.

•Opportunity for coaching in leading (conducting with the violin) the group class of teachers using

   Suzuki repertory of your choice.

•Discussion on how to prepare families to begin the Suzuki experience.

 

Music from the Suzuki Violin School, volumes 1-4, will be used to trace musical and technical development. Participants are to bring a violin, Suzuki Violin School Books volumes 1-4, and note taking materials.

 

LOCATION: The course will be held at the WO Smith Community Music School, 1125 8th Ave. S, Nashville, TN, 37203. The school has wireless internet connection and free parking.

CHECK IN: All participants and auditors attending this course must check in on Sunday, February 19, 2012, between 1:30 – 2:00pm CST. The first class starts promptly at 2:00pm.

LUNCHES:  During the week, participants are responsible for their own lunch arrangements. However, the MTSA will provide a list of convenient restaurants and a delivery option.

LODGING:  A group rate of $115/night is offered in the newly renovated Holiday Inn Express Nashville-Downtown, www.hiexndt.com for anyone attending this MTSA event. This rate includes a hot breakfast, wireless internet, and free shuttle service within a 2 mile. Call the hotel directly to make reservations and ask for the MTSA group rate. AIRPORT:  Nashville’s International Airport (BNA) is 8 miles east of downtown. When arranging your flight,be sure to leave enough time to check in and be in place for the start of the first class at 2:00pm.

AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION: Shuttle service is available to and from the Airport and downtown hotels, through Grayline Tours, www.graylinenashville.com. Grayline departs the airport every half hour and includes the Holiday Inn Express Nashville-Downtown. Rates are $12, one-way or $20, round-trip (prices subject to change).

REFUND POLICY: A registration fee of $60 is non-refundable. Tuition fee is refundable, if written request is postmarked by Jan. 1, 2012.
